I-3 / ABOUT

/// Who we are

Built by trades, for the field.

I-3 Technologies puts decades of hands-on construction and fabrication experience behind every model — so coordination decisions reflect how the work actually installs.

/// Integration · Innovation · Implementation

What I-3 stands for — and how we work.

That’s the name, and it’s the method: integrate the disciplines, innovate on the process, implement what the field can actually build.

/// 01

Integration

Architectural, structural, and MEP brought into one coordinated model — disciplines integrated, not stacked, so the systems fit before the field.

/// 02

Innovation

We seek, educate, and implement the technologies and processes — standalone and cloud-based — that keep improving our clients’ deliverables.

/// 03

Implementation

Models built the way the work installs — fabrication-ready output that drives purchasing, prefabrication, just-in-time delivery, and a clean install.

/// Our thesis

We build it once digitally, so the field build goes clean.

/// 01

BIM is a process, not a 3D model

We treat BIM as a way to manage the flow of information on a project from inception to turnover — building the project once digitally, where changes are cheap, so the field build goes clean.

  • Constructability issues caught in the model, not the ceiling
  • Fabrication-ready output for purchasing and prefabrication
  • Coordinated to support just-in-time delivery and installation
  • Fewer RFIs, fewer change orders, less field rework

“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

/// The people behind the work

Leadership that’s installed what it models.

Two careers spanning the full lifecycle of industrial and commercial MEP systems — software, design, fabrication, and the field.

S. Trent Staton

CEO & Founder

Trent founded I-3 Technologies to put decades of hands-on construction experience behind virtual design and construction — building models that crews can actually build from.

He brings 31 years in process, mechanical, and plumbing piping systems construction and detailing, with deep expertise across semiconductor, industrial, healthcare, and pharmaceutical construction.

His knowledge spans the full lifecycle of industrial and commercial MEP systems — software, process, design, fabrication, and installation — so every coordination decision is grounded in how the work actually gets installed in the field.

  • 31 years in MEP & process-piping construction and detailing
  • Semiconductor, industrial, healthcare & pharmaceutical experience

Dan Sherman

Lead VDC Detailer

Dan leads VDC detailing at I-3 Technologies with 33 years in plumbing, mechanical, and process piping on some of the most demanding projects in the industry — semiconductor, food processing, power generation, water treatment, hospitals, stadiums, arenas, and high-rise towers.

He has advanced capabilities in Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam, bridging the gap between design and the field to produce fabrication-ready models.

His focus: identify constructability issues early and partner closely with clients' teams to drive efficient, coordinated installations.
